Each Antardasha can itself be divided into nine smaller planetary periods called Pratyantardashas. Saturn / Venus / Mercury means Saturn Mahadasha, Venus Antardasha and Mercury Pratyantardasha.
This allows a narrower time window to be examined. The broad Saturn period remains active, Venus modifies it, and Mercury adds a further timing layer.
However, this should not be interpreted mechanically as adding three planetary meanings together. The relationship of all three planets to the natal horoscope remains the deciding factor.
The principle of proportional subdivision
At each level the current period is subdivided according to the same planetary proportions of the 120-year cycle: the child period equals the parent period multiplied by the child planet's Vimshottari years and divided by 120.
Applied recursively, that single principle produces Mahadasha, Antardasha, Pratyantardasha, Sookshma and Prana.
