The 12 Houses in Vedic Astrology

In Vedic astrology, a birth chart or Kundli is divided into twelve houses, known as Bhavas. Each house represents a distinct area of life — from personality and family to career, relationships, spirituality and transformation.

A house should never be interpreted in isolation. Its results depend on several factors, including the sign occupying it, its ruling planet, planets placed within it, planetary aspects, strengths and afflictions, and the overall structure of the horoscope.

Understanding the houses as a complete system

The twelve houses collectively describe different dimensions of human experience. No house is inherently “good” or “bad.” Even houses associated with challenges may represent resilience, transformation or spiritual development.

A meaningful Vedic astrology consultation therefore considers the entire horoscope, rather than making predictions from a single house or planetary placement.

Astrological interpretations are traditional guidance frameworks and should not replace professional medical, legal, financial or other specialist advice.
