Vastu Remedies That Do Not Require Demolition
Most Vastu concerns in an existing home can be addressed with placement, light, colour and usage — not construction.

Start with usage, not walls
The most effective Vastu corrections in an existing flat are almost never structural. Before anyone suggests breaking a wall, three cheaper levers should be exhausted: what a room is used for, where heavy objects sit, and where light and air enter.
Direction-wise practical corrections
- North-east (Ishanya) — keep it light, clean and open. Remove clutter, storage lofts and heavy furniture. A water feature or prayer space suits it.
- South-west (Nairutya) — the heaviest zone. Wardrobes, safes and the master bed belong here. Never keep it hollow or use it as an entry.
- South-east (Agneya) — the fire zone. Kitchen hob, geyser and electrical equipment.
- North — finance and opportunity. Keep the wall lighter in colour, avoid tall dark furniture.
Small changes that matter
- Fix leaking taps immediately; running water in the wrong zone is a classic drain-of-resources indication.
- Repair the main door so it opens fully and quietly, inward and clockwise.
- Sleep with your head to the south or east.
- Keep the centre of the home (Brahmasthan) uncluttered.
- Prefer warm, even lighting over a single harsh source.
When a site visit is worth it
Apartments with irregular shapes, cut corners, or entrances in a debated zone benefit from an on-site or plan-based assessment. See Vastu Shastra for the Modern Home and Office.
No consultation here will recommend expensive demolition as a first step.
